How many parts does it have?
Six parts in total: four legs, one base and a mattress
What is the mattress like?
Lovely, thick and deep, which is quite amazing considering it folds in half for easy storage. Straighten it out and it becomes a very comfortable mattress again. It’s much better quality than any of the other travel cot mattresses I’ve encountered. Both baby and toddlers have slept very well in it with no signs of discomfort at all.
How portable is it?
In theory it is portable, but only with the provided carry-bag. Unfortunately there wasn’t one included in the box, so I can’t vouch for this. The base only folds in half, which means although it’s thin and easy to store, it is an awkward shape to actually carry about.
What is the weight of the travel cot?
It’s not super light at 8.8kg. The base itself is the heaviest part, but it’s not impossible for one person to move it on their own, and it’s certainly much lighter than other travel cots on the market.
Would you use it from newborn?
I would be very happy to use it for a newborn. It’s small enough to comfortably fit in a compact space, but secure enough to keep a newborn snug. It’s also got mesh surrounds, which means no overheating and no limbs getting stuck in any gaps. The higher zip setting makes it very easy to lower a sleeping newborn into it without waking them up or injuring your back. And, the solid panels at the head and foot of the cot means light from opening doors and windows won’t wake up sleeping babies when checking on them.
Will it last to 18 months?
It will last to 18 months in terms of quality, but may be on the small side for some larger toddlers. It’s not particularly long. It’s also a little wobbly, and a strong toddler could easily rock it about the room, although probably not tip it over.
Tell us about how it transforms from cot to bed – is this a useful feature?
It doesn’t transform into a bed, but it does have two heights – a higher setting for newborns, and then a lower setting for children who can stand up in the cot. The lower setting still doesn’t touch the floor though, which is another positive design feature. One of the best things about this cot is the ease with which you can change between the two settings – a simple zip that goes all the way around the cot, much like a suitcase design when unzipping extra width.
How easy is it to clean?
The mattress is super-easy to take out and clean, and probably fine to be hand-washed. The rest of the cot is light in colour and mesh material, so not the easiest to keep clean, but the material is rather durable and you can wipe off superficial stains.
